A community of family and friends said farewell to Dr. John C. Stevens, ACU chancellor emeritus, at University Church of Christ in Abilene May 5.
In a tribute filled with laughter and tears, friends and colleagues told of the man they worked with and deeply admired. As Stevens' casket left the auditorium, an impromptu ovation from the audience served as a gesture fitting such a remarkable life.
Stevens was laid to rest at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery, with military honors.
