High school students to attend college seminar at ACU Dec. 9

Area high school students and their parents are invited to attend a free "Planning for College" seminar Dec. 9 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Onstead-Packer Biblical Studies Building on the Abilene Christian University campus. The seminar for seniors, juniors, and sophomores is sponsored by the Hispanic Leadership Council and ACU, and will include information about admissions, financial aid and scholarships.

Representatives from more than 15 colleges and universities from Abilene and Texas will be on hand to speak with students and parents. The seminar includes special sessions for students and their parents, with each group receiving information that is relevant to their different stages and needs.

"The purpose of the planning for college seminar is to help high school students learn about the college admissions and financial aid process, so they have the knowledge to make college possible," said Samuel Garcia, vice president of the Hispanic Leadership Council.

Lunch will be provided at no charge. Students will have opportunities to win door prizes, such as a laptop or video iPod. The day will end with a tour of the ACU campus.

Students can register online at www.acu.edu/hlccollegeseminar, or call Samuel Garcia at 325-677-1900. For more information, e-mail cultures@acu.edu or talk to a high school counselor.
