Grand opening set for science labs at BennettPosted August 05, 2015
A grand opening for the engineering and physics laboratories at Bennett Gymnasium will take place Saturday, Aug. 22. A come-and-go-reception is set for 2-4 p.m. Visitors may tour the facility and see faculty and students perform experiments.
The historic Bennett Gym, which opened on the Abilene Christian University campus in 1930, is getting new life as a science facility. Its interior has been transformed into two stories of labs and project space that will become a showpiece for the fast-growing engineering program and a physics program that has long yearned for lab space to complement its ongoing world-class research work at places like Fermilab and Brookhaven national labs.
Bennett is the first of the five projects to be completed for ACU’s Vision in Action construction initiative that will transform the campus in a way not seen in 50 years.
