Donors issue matching gift challenge

Posted April 15, 2015

Donors to ACU can double the effects of their gifts this spring, thanks to a group of generous donors, who have pooled their resources to challenge ACU’s alumni and friends with a $75,000 matching gift to the Exceptional Fund.

The challenge applies a 1:1 match to any Exceptional Fund gift made before May 31. The maximum donation eligible for a match is $5,000. Gifts can be made at ACU’s online giving page.

“Gifts to the Exceptional Fund provide important dollars right away for student scholarships, faculty enrichment and innovative programs,” said Jim Orr, vice president for advancement. “We are so grateful for the generosity of thousands of donors every year who share our passion for providing students a life-changing, Christ-centered education.”

A gift of any size – along with being doubled by the matching challenge – also helps boost the university’s alumni participation rate, which can increase the number of gifts from foundations and corporate donors.

Fulfillment of pledges made before March 30 do not count toward the challenge, and matching corporate or foundation gifts are not eligible. There is no minimum level of giving required for the match.
