Tokens Radio Show live at the Paramount June 4Posted May 18, 2015
Nashville-based Tokens Radio Show will broadcast live from the historic Paramount Theatre in Abilene at 7:30 p.m. June 4.
The performance is open to the community and will feature Snyder poet and Yale faculty member Christian Wiman and the Abilene ISD String group “Revolutions,” all mixed up with enough humor and satire to keep things lively.
Tokens, inspired by Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion, is described as part great music, part university lecture, part cultural analysis, and part good conversation.
The Nashville Scene named Tokens Nashville’s Best Local Variety Show in 2013. The Tennessean calls it “one of a kind” and a “virtuouso ensemble.” Music critic Peter Cooper wrote, “It’s amazing that [Tokens] has integrated music, humor and scholarship into something so seamlessly entertaining.”
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online or at the Paramount box office.
The show is being brought to Abilene by the 2015 Christian Scholars Conference, set for June 3-5 on the Abilene Christian University campus.
