ACU to offer online doctorate in Organizational Leadership

Posted February 02, 2015

Starting this summer, Abilene Christian University plans to offer a new online option for individuals interested in earning a doctoral degree to enhance their leadership skills.

The 54-hour Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership program was approved by the university this fall. Pending approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership would be the second doctoral program at ACU, and the first to be offered online.

"The Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership is a logical next step toward ACU's 21st-Century Vision - to become the premier university for the education of Christ-centered, global leaders - and this degree was designed for individuals who wish to enhance their leadership training," said Dr. Jaime Goff, associate dean of the Graduate School.

The degree will be offered entirely online and will offer specializations in higher education, conflict resolution, principalship and school superintendent leadership. The core curriculum will consist of eight foundational courses, four research courses, courses from one of four specialization areas, and a minimum of six hours of dissertation research.

Courses will follow a seven-week format in which students take on one course at a time for seven weeks.
