Master of Accountancy program in Top 10 for CPA Exam pass rates

Posted February 15, 2013

Abilene Christian University's Master of Accountancy program (MACC), part of ACU's College of Business Administration, has been ranked in the Top 10 schools with the highest CPA Exam pass rates in Texas, according to a report published by the Texas Society of CPAs (Today's CPA, January/February 2013). The results were determined by analyzing CPA Exam pass results across the state from April 2004 to September 2012.

"The pass rate of our graduates is a measurement of the quality and academic strength of the MACC program," says Bill Fowler, department chair and associate professor of accounting. "Our ranking indicates our students can move quickly into the arena of public accounting after completing their work at ACU. We are proud of the success of our students in passing the Exam as they begin their professional careers."

The CPA Exam is a uniform, 14-hour, computer-based test used to ensure that only qualified individuals become licensed as U.S. Certified Public Accountants (CPAs). Because of the MACC program's high pass rates, 97% of ACU students who complete the program have already secured employment in accounting firms nationwide upon graduation.

The list includes five public universities and five private universities. Among the institutions joining ACU in the Top 10: University of Texas- Austin, Texas A&M-College Station, Texas Christian University, Baylor University, Southern Methodist University, Southwestern University, Trinity University, Austin Community College and Texas Tech University.
