Playbill features theatre department alumna

Posted February 12, 2013

It is not everyday that candid shots of an actor’s backstage life are featured on the internationally recognized site Jenavene Hester (’09), however, is getting the star treatment.

Hester is a graduate of the ACU theatre program and is daughter of Adam Hester, department chair and professor of the ACU Department of Theatre, and Donna Hester, an adjunct faculty member.

The young actress is featured for her starring role in Parade, a musical production presented by The Gallery Players, an award-winning Brooklyn, N.Y., theatre company now in its 46th season.

Parade tells the true story of the 1913 murder trial of Jewish factory manager Leo Frank for the death of Mary Phagan, played by Jenavene Hester, according to The Gallery Players’ site. The 1999 Tony Award-winning show began Jan. 26 and runs through Feb. 17.

"It's exciting to have so many ACU theatre alumni finding success in the professional arena,” says father and theatre chair Adam Hester. “Of course, it's especially thrilling to watch my daughter, Jenavene, as she builds her career. I'm so proud of her."
