Master of Organizational and Human Resource Development program ranked #8 in nationPosted January 14, 2013
ACU's online Master of Organizational and Human Resource Development degree program was recently ranked eighth in the nation based on its quality, types of courses offered, faculty, rankings, awards and reputation. ACU is known for effectively providing online degree programs.
“We’re honored to be recognized as a top program in Human Resources Management,” says Dr. Jon Camp, director of the degree program. “We wanted to create a program that equips students with the skills they need to lead and manage human resources in today’s complex organizations.”
The program was ranked among the top 20 programs by TheBestSchools.org, an independent organization with no ties to any other educational institution. All its editors know the academic world well, with some holding Ph.D.'s and having extensive experience in teaching, research and publishing at the university level.
This ranking is exciting news for the university, as a master's degree in OHRD provides graduates with an edge on other applicants in a competitive job market.
Human resources (HR) is now one of the top business administration priorities at most companies. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that an advanced degree in the HR field, such as ACU's M.S., is increasingly preferred for high-level jobs in human resources. The BLS also reports that workers with a solid background in HR programs, policies, and employment law should have better job opportunities.
Human resources professionals are in demand in private, nonprofit, and government agencies. The BLS forecasts a 21% employment growth rate from 2010 to 2020 for HR specialists—faster than the average for all occupations. The median annual salary for human resources managers in 2011 was $99,130, according to the BLS.
