As a transfer student from a large public university, Chelsea Johnson noticed many differences soon after she arrived at ACU. "The professors not only knew my face, but they knew my name," says Chelsea. However, the one change that she remembers most vividly is a professor asking if she had any prayer requests.

"Abilene Christian had everything I was looking for, and I knew I would be a perfect fit," says Chelsea, who is slated to graduate this December. "I have never regretted my decision to come to ACU."

Chelsea is especially close with Drs. Mark and Laura Phillips, two professors she met during the third day of Welcome Week. "They have been supportive of me, are wonderful mentors and feel very much like family," says Chelsea.

Internship opportunities

During her time at ACU, Chelsea  had two great internship opportunities. After graduating with her B.B.A. in 2009, she participated in an internship for a local accounting firm working in its estate tax department, returning again the next spring while pursuing her master's degree. During the summer of 2009, she participated in an internship with a firm in Fort Worth.

"What I have learned the most through these internships is the importance of relationships in the workplace," says Chelsea. "Skills can be developed at any accounting firm, but the relationships you build while there are equally important to job contentment."

During her time at ACU, Chelsea was also able to attend a study abroad session with the College of Business Administration in June 2008. "It was by far the most memorable month I have spent at ACU," she says. "I have always loved England and feel so blessed to have been able to live there for an entire month."
