Bachelor of Science (BS) in Information Technology (IT)

If you enjoy working hands on with technology and solving problems, Information Technology might be the right degree for you.

The undergraduate Information Technology program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET.​

This Degree Offers:

  • Development of technical skills in the configuration, development and maintenance of technology infrastructures
  • High-tech training that provides versatility in career selection, such as application development or IT administration
  • Specialization in a second discipline
  • High earning potential after college

Areas of Concentration:

  • Application Development – focuses on a more applied approach of information technology, which develops the skills to create and maintain web, applications, and other software
  • Security and Administration – focuses on the principles and implementation of cyber security, information assurance, and administration of networks and databases.

This major requires an 18-hour support area that complements Information Technology, such as: Business, Digital Entertainment Technology or a different area of interest to the student.

  • Data communications and telecommunications
  • Internet or web development  

Our Information Technology program prepares students to:

  • Use Christian principles in evaluating issues and making ethical decisions
  • Demonstrate broad, integrated knowledge in core technology areas related to Information Technology
  • Exhibit critical thinking, communication, leadership, and career development appropriate for effectiveness and advancement in the field of Information Technology

Our Information Technology graduates will be equipped with: 

  • An ability to apply knowledge of computing and mathematics appropriate to the discipline 
  • An ability to analyze a problem, and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution 
  • An ability to design, implement, and evaluate a computer-based system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs 
  • An ability to function effectively on teams to accomplish a common goal 
  • An understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities 
  • An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences 
  • An ability to analyze the local and global impact of computing on individuals, organizations, and society 
  • Recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in continuing professional development 
  • An ability to use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practice 
  • An ability to use and apply current technical concepts and practices in the core information technologies 
  • An ability to identify and analyze user needs and take them into account in the selection, creation, evaluation and administration of computer-based systems 
  • An ability to effectively integrate IT-based solutions into the user environment 
  • An understanding of best practices and standards and their application 
  • An ability to assist in the creation of an effective project plan

The SITC also offers a minor in Information Technology with optional tracks of Application Development or Information Technology Administration.
