Alumni Spotlight

JOSEPH CHAPA

Major: Journalism
Grad Year: December 2024
Current Job Title: Sales Consultant for Dallas Cowboys

Since Wildcat Week, I recognized that ACU was more than a four year commitment, it was a lifetime decision. The JMC department allowed me to find myself, build relationships and sharpen my faith. From ESPN+ productions, to reporting for the Optimist, the hands-on learning laid the foundation for my career in the NFL. Without the opportunities, relationships and experience that JMC provided,I would not be where I am today. To all JMC students – go beyond the classroom! Stay after class, have lunch with professors and volunteer for every opportunity. You won’t regret it. Go Wildcats!

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Journalism and Mass Communication Department is to engage students in critical and creative thinking in the classroom, in the laboratory, and through mentoring relationships, leading them to become exceptional, ethical, and agile communicators in a rapidly changing media environment, embracing technology, valuing diversity, and embodying Christ-centered service.
