Advanced Standing in the MSSW Program
The ACU School of Social Work offers advanced standing for eligible students in which, most or all of the foundation year courses can be waived. Advanced Standing students begin the program with a two-week, 6-hour summer seminar that begins in mid-July before moving directly into the M.S. in Social Work program 38-hour second year of study. During this full-time one year program, which has options for part-time as well, students engage in advanced social work practice through classroom and field practicum learning and by conducting independent thesis research.
Eligibility for Advanced Standing:
- Completed a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (directory of accredited programs) within the past 5 years. If B.S. in Social Work was not completed within the past 5 years, current social work experience may be considered;
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in B.S. in Social Work coursework;
- Positive B.S. in Social Work field practicum evaluation.
