Literature

The literature track asks students to explore the critical and theoretical approaches to texts written in the various literary periods and exposes students to writers from across the literary spectrum. Courses in this track emphasize student research, writing, and presentation. Students have the option of thesis or non-thesis plans.

The following is a list of the required courses for the 36-hour MA in English, Literature track:

         1. Core, 9 hours:

         2. Literature Track, 9 hours:

         3. Discourse Studies, 0-9 hours:

         4. Writing, 0-6 hours:

         6. American literature, 6-12 hours:

*3 hours may be fulfilled by ENGL 631 when the author is

         8. British literature after 1789, 3-12 hours:

*3 hours may be fulfilled by ENGL 631 when the author is from
  British literature after 1789.
