Leveling Program

CSD welcomes all applicants for their graduate program, whether they have an undergraduate degree in CSD or another field.  All applications are for full admission to the graduate program in CSD.  The graduate program audits the transcripts of applicants to determine if leveling coursework is required.  Applications are welcome from individuals who have leveled at other universities.  Applicants who have leveled at other universities are encouraged to contact the graduate advisor at ACU to determine applicability of their leveling coursework.

Leveling at ACU requires that the individual commit to a graduate program for three academic years, including 24 hours of leveling coursework and clinical observations followed by two academic years of graduate coursework.

Leveling coursework required at ACU includes the following:

COMP 225Voice and Phonetics (Phonetic Transcription)
COMP 319Acoustics and Voice Science (Speech Science)
COMP 330Normal Language Development
COMP 352Audiology
COMP 353Hearing Rehabilitation (Aural Rehabilitation)
COMP 356Articulation and Phonologic Disorders
COMP 357Organic and Neurogenic Disorders
COMP 481Anatomical and Physiological Processes of Communication

All individuals, whether or not levelers, must have completed the following 3 hours each of coursework prior to ASHA certification: 

Biological Science
Physical Science
Social or Behavioral Science
Mathematics
Audiology
Aural Rehabilitation
