The national influence of ACU’s annual Lectureship began more than 100 years ago. In January 1907, ACU president A.B. Barret invited preacher Dr. George A. Klingman to lead a week-long lecture series. The popularity of this annual lecture event eventually led to an expanded program in 1918 with a new name – ACU Bible Lecture Program. When it began a century ago, Lectureship was a program for students, who proclaimed it the highlight of the academic year.
As ACU begins its second century, this September the annual Lectureship program dawns the new name “Summit.” The longest running annual gathering of Christians and Churches of Christ continues a successful century of following Jesus. Summit is a conversation where life and faith converge in Christ. ACU provides a space for conversation about real world issues discussed from the perspective of faith. Summit gathers students, church leaders, faculty and Christianity for conversation.
Our aim is that participation in this event will challenge you to see life as ministry and equip you to live as a minister in your everyday life. Together we participate with God in His mission for the world. We hope you leave Summit even more committed to following Jesus. Through this conversation, our prayer is that Christ will be seen more plainly in our neighborhoods, office break rooms, community service and churches.
Submit your registration and make plans now to meet friends Sept. 21-24, 2008. Come join the conversation as we explore Paul’s letter to the Romans around the theme “The Righteousness of God.”
