2010 Co-chairs

Abilene Christian University's Office of Student Productions has named four students to serve as co-chairs for Sing Song 2010. These four students coordinate all aspects of conceptualization, production and implementation of the annual show that involves approximately 1,400 students. Sing Song 2010 is slated for Feb. 19-20.

The co-chairs include:

  • Preston Woolfolk, senior political science/international studies major from San Antonio
  • Megan Faver, senior English major from Lufkin
  • Rachel Smith, senior elementary education from Richardson
  • Rebecca Hopkins, junior speech pathology major from Edmond, Oklahoma

This group coordinates one of ACU's greatest traditions where student groups perform songs with lyrics they've written hoping for the "overall winner" title for their three-and-one-half-minute medley.

The medleys, performed on an upper stage, typically consist of popular songs with rewritten lyrics to complement the group's chosen theme. Hosts and hostesses perform popular tunes on a lower stage with a jazz band and dance teams to keep the show moving between acts.

Tom Craig, director of student productions, said, "This year's co-chairs are currently developing the Sing Song 2010 theme 'Name Fame,' working with all potential acts and brainstorming for ways to make the 2010 show one that keeps the audience entertained in an unparalleled way."

Preston is serving in his second year as co-chair, helping lead the team that coordinates the group acts on the upper stage. He has been involved with Sing Song performances of his social club, Galaxy; his class acts; and the Freshman Usher team his first year.  He has also been part of the Students' Association and ACU's student congress. He has been involved in the International Students' Association, Rotaract International, and he has served as a peer leader for many freshman students at ACU. Preston is also a member of the ACU Club Soccer team.  He is the son of Scott and Beth Woolfolk.

Megan has worked with Sing Song the past two years helping run the lower stage and coordinating the choreography in the performances of her club, Sigma Theta Chi. Along with being actively involved in her social club, she also has served on the steering committee for Welcome Week, ACU's freshman orientation; peer leader for the Honors Cornerstone class; and member of the Honors College. Megan is the daughter of Kent ('83) and Susan (Green'84) Faver.

Rachel has been involved with Sing Song since her sophomore year, participating with her social club Alpha Kai Omega. Along with serving as an active member, she also serves as her club's chaplain. She is also a member of the Kappa Delta Phi Education Honor Society. She is the daughter of Gary and Tricia Smith.

Rebecca has worked with Sing Song for the past two years, serving as freshman class director and house manager. She has been involved in numerous activities on campus, including Freshman Follies, Freshman Action Council, Homecoming steering committee, Welcome Week mentor group leader, and she is an active member and junior representative in her social club Ko Jo Kai. She is the daughter of Steve and Lisa Hopkins.

Sing Song is supported by a grant from the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council, the City of Abilene and the Texas Commission on the Arts.
