"Long-time University Church of Christ minister Eddie Sharp will be the featured speaker at Abilene Christian University's Summer Workshop July 27-29. Along with Sharp, B.B. Stevens from Cleburne will serve as worship leader for the event.

"We have outstanding presenters from across the nation who will encourage and equip people who are the heart of churches across the nation," said Dr. David Wallace, event coordinator and associate professor of Bible, missions and ministry at ACU.

"Traditionally Summer Workshop has been for Bible class teachers, but we have added different tracks for Bible teachers, ministry leaders and others," he said.

Other venues and presenters include:

  • Women's Ministry – Emily Lemley from Westlake Village, Calif., and Beverly Ross from Decatur;
  • Older Adult Ministry  – Buck Griffith from  Corpus Christi, Jim Hughes from Missouri City, and others;
  • Small-Church Ministry – Dean Bryce from Bentonville, Ark., and Charles Siburt of Abilene.

Dr. Carl Brecheen, professor emeritus of Bible, missions and ministry at ACU, will teach a special class, "The Honor of Teaching: Encouragement for the Journey."

Wallace said, "Brecheens class encapsulates what we're trying to do at Workshop."

Registration for the workshop is $30, which includes a Friday evening meal where the outstanding Bible teacher award will be presented. Limited on-campus housing is available. For more event details, see the Summer Workshop brochure online at
