Alumni Association to honor John and Diane Duncum of College Station

April 25, 2006

Abilene Christian University's Alumni Association will present John ('59) and Diane ('62) Duncum with a Distinguished Alumni Citation Sunday at 2 p.m. at the A&M Church of Christ in College Station; a celebrative reception will take place after the presentation.

While being a positive role model for married couples for more than 47 years, the Duncums have been instrumental in the development of ACU's Center for Conflict Resolution. Diane has also been a member of Women for ACU and the visiting committee for the Social Work, Sociology and Gerontology Departments, and John has served as a university trustee for 25 years.

"For as long as I can remember they have operated as a team," said son Mark Duncum ('83). "I believe that my parents are great examples of what we as ACU alumni and followers of Christ are called to do – be a light to the world."

From 1998 to 2005, the Duncums operated Peach Creek Farms Bed & Breakfast in College Station. The couple's friends joked that the Duncums liked having company so much that they opened the bed and breakfast so they could charge their friends to stay with them.

They are currently involved in real estate development and two Toyota franchises in the College Station and Bryan area.

At each church the family has attended since the late 1970s, John has served as an elder and is currently an elder at their church in College Station. They have four sons, all graduates of ACU, and a grandson who is a freshman this year.
