Faculty, staff awards presented at ACU appreciation celebration

Abilene Christian University honored its employees Friday night at the Employee Appreciation Celebration where longtime faculty and staff members were recognized and awards were presented to staff and faculty.

Brad Bennett, computer support specialist, and Beverly Rama, administrative coordinator for the Department of Art and Design, received ACU’s Outstanding Staff Member award. Joel Swedlund, manager of the Campus Center, received the Unsung Servant award.

The Faculty Senate Award was presented to Dr. Perry Reeves, professor of chemistry and biochemistry. The University Seminar Teacher of the Year Award was given to Tracy Shilcutt, assistant professor of history. University Seminar is a class designed for freshman and transfer students as an introduction to college and ACU. Nuria Hall, administrative coordinator for the Department of English, received the degree plan specialist of the year award.  Faculty Advisor of the Year was Dr. Rodney Ashlock, assistant professor in the Department of Bible, Missions and Ministry.

Employees were also honored for their years of service, including Dr. Bob Hunter and Dr. Dwain Hart for 50 years of service to the university. Dr. Dave Merrell was honored for 40 years of service.

Others were honored for 30 years of service:  Danelle Brand, Dr. Paul Morris, Bob Strader, Dr. Chris Willerton and Dr. John Willis.

Jimmie Coffey, Dr. Carley Dodd, Dr. Merlin Mann, Dr. Ed Mathews and Dr. Royce Money, were recognized for 25 years of service.
