Teacher job fair to bring school districts, employment opportunities to Abilene university students

For immediate release
April 6, 2006

Abilene university students seeking jobs in education will meet with school districts from several states at the Tri-University Teacher Job Fair scheduled for Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Abilene Civic Center. The fair will bring representatives from 80 school districts in Texas, New Mexico and Nevada.

The event is a cooperative effort of Abilene Christian University, Hardin-Simmons University and McMurry University.

“The teacher job fair is a convenient way for school districts to consolidate weeks of screening and interviewing into a single day,” said Cynthia Cooke, department liaison for ACU’s Office of Career and Academic Development.

At the job fair, employers will review resumes, identify candidates for possible future employment, and meet formally and informally with job seekers. The primary objective is to give qualified candidates from the three universities an opportunity to be identified by school districts, Cooke said.

The event is free to local university students and alumni seeking jobs in education. For more information, contact ACU’s Office of Career and Academic Development at
