For immediate release
September 30, 2005

Members of the freshman class at Abilene Christian University will be performing the annual variety show Freshman Follies on Friday and Saturday. This year's theme is "The Mission" and follows seven ACU students pursuing clues buried on the ACU campus.

Performances will be in Cullen Auditorium Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $9, and all are general admission. Tickets are available at the ACU ticket window Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., online at or at the door. For more information, call 325-674-2648 or visit

At Friday's performances, Dr Pepper representatives will be on-hand offering coupons, free samples of Dr Pepper products, and merchandise as part of a sampling tour. In addition, there will be special giveaways prior to each Friday night performance.

This year's Freshman Follies show will explore ACU's 100-year history with a look back at each decade. Each hall act will describe what they think it was like to be a student at Abilene Christian in past decades. Hall acts were assigned a decade from 1906 through today.

The show is a combination of residence hall acts, specialty acts, a large chorus and video clips which tell the story of "The Mission." There will be 12 specialty acts including vocalists, group musical performances and a baton twirler.

"After seeing the acts this week, I’ve been blown away," said Baron Smith, freshman marketing major from Irving and a Freshman Follies co-chair. "It’s a whole different side to my class."

The show gives freshmen an opportunity to meet others from their hall and their class, said Emily Plemons, freshman psychology major from San Antonio and director of a hall act.
