Speaker to offer tips on job placement, graduate school admissions

This week Abilene Christian University students will have the chance to improve their job search and graduate school admissions prospects after graduation. Donald Asher, a leading national speaker on the topic of graduate admissions and career-related issues, will be on campus presenting lectures and workshops designed for landing the ideal job.

The McNair Scholars Program, the Students' Association, and the Office of Career and Academic Development, are sponsoring Asher’s visit to ACU.

Asher will speak to ACU students interested in job placement Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center Hilton Room. All are invited to attend.  On Friday and Saturday, Asher will deliver an intensive, interactive, two-day workshop for McNair scholars and invited guests.

About Donald Asher

Asher is one of the nation's foremost authorities on the graduate admissions process. 

Thousands of students have seen his lectures, tapes, and teleconferences.  He has been a keynote or featured speaker for a number of the Ronald E. McNair Scholars National Conferences, the New McNair Directors Training Program in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Penn State TRIO Training Institute offered coast to coast, the SREB Compact for Faculty Diversity, the Oregon Statewide Graduate School Fair, the Indiana Statewide Conference on Undergraduate Research, Caltech's Ph.D. Career Development Days, and at hundreds of colleges and universities throughout the United States.  He has been a contributing writer to the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Examiner, web sites such as and's college site, and both the Wall Street Journal's and the Los Angeles Times’s career development web sites.  He has authored nine books.  He was twice a special guest speaker a the annual conference of the National Association of the Graduate Admissions Professionals, and three times the keynote presenter for the National Teleconference on Graduate Admissions.
