Centennial postal cancellation, postcards now available through mail services

August 22, 2005

The Abilene Christian University Centennial postmark for the U.S. Postal Service was unveiled and the first cancellation was presented to Dr. Royce Money on Monday morning at a ceremony in the McGlothlin Campus Center.

The Centennial cancellation will be available Aug. 23 through Sept. 21 at the ACU Mail Services window in the campus center.

The postmark cancellation was developed to commemorate the 100th school year of ACU and includes the date of the first classes of the Centennial school year, August 22, 2005.

The cancellation is available through:

  • Mail-Back Service: An addressed and stamped piece of mail can be canceled with the Centennial cancellation and entered into the regular mail stream.

  • Hand-Back Service: A mail piece or other item such as a post card, program or poster, with at least 37 cents in postage can be canceled with the Centennial cancellation and handed back.

  • Centennial Picture Postcards: In addition to the postmark cancellation, four full-color postcards are available for purchase that can be cancelled with the ACU Centennial postmark. These postcards are available individually for $1 or as a set of all four designs for $3.50.
