New Lectureship track focuses on faith in the workplace

A new schedule of classes and discussions at Abilene Christian University’s annual Bible Lectureship this year, "Marketplace Faith," will examine faith in business and other professions.

A breakfast series hosted by local churches will encourage professionals to view their work as ministry.

On Monday at Hillcrest Church of Christ, David Davenport, former president of Pepperdine University, will speak about "Shepherd Leadership.' On Tuesday, Dallas attorney Mike Boone will speak at Highland Church of Christ on "It’s Sunday but Monday's Coming." Randy Harris will speak on"When Work Becomes Prayer" at Southern Hills Church of Christ Wednesday.

All breakfasts begin at 6:30 a.m. Tickets for the breakfasts are available in advance for $5 at the ticket window in the McGlothlin Campus Center.

In addition, each afternoon, Monday through Wednesday, a panel will convene for a forum-style discussion about faith at work. Panelists include Dr. Monty Lynn, professor of management sciences at ACU; Dr. Mark Hamilton, assistant professor in the College of Biblical Studies; Eddie Sharp, minister at University Church of Christ; and two businessmen, Ed Bonneau and Grant Boone.
