Economic Outlook Conference to provide insight for nation, region

Jeff Thredgold, economic futurist and president of Thredgold Economic Associates in Salt Lake City, will put the nation’s economy into perspective for 2005 and the next few years at the annual Economic Outlook Conference at Abilene Christian University. Ray Ferguson, a local CPA, CFP and partner with Condley and Company, LLP, will provide a look at the local economic forecast.

The conference luncheon will take place at ACU's Teague Special Events Center Jan. 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A limited number of tickets are still available and can be reserved by calling the Center for Building Community at 325-674-2156.

Thredgold is the only economist in the world to have received the designation of Certified Speaking Professional, the highest earned designation in professional speaking. He worked for 23 years with banking giant KeyCorp, where he was senior vice president and chief economist. He now is an economic consultant to several clients, including Zions Bancorporations, and he has appeared regularly on CNBC, CNN and in national financial publications.

His book, Economy by Thredgold, was released in January 2001, and his latest book, On the One Hand…The Economist's Joke Book, was released in June 2001. He also writes a weekly economic and financial newsletter, the Tea Leaf and is a monthly contributor for Blue Chip Finanical Forecasts and quarterly USA TODAY economic forecast surveys.

Thredgold served as an adjunct professor of finance at the University of Utah for 16 years and is a former member of both the Economic Advisory Committee of the American Bankers Association and the Economic Policy Committee of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
