Expect words to fly when Abilene Christian University's Poetry Workshop participates in Rent-A-Poet at the Abilene Bookstore downtown (174 Cypress Street) during April Artwalk.
The sixth installment of the annual event is designed to raise money for the community and celebrate National Poetry Month.
The students will be writing poems from 6-8 p.m. during Artwalk on Thursday, April 8.
For a donation, the student poets write quick, one-page poems based on any topic the customer desires. All donations go to Taylor County Adult Literacy.
ACU writer-in-residence Albert Haley, who is leading 14 of his workshop students in the poetry writing, said customers can expect to have a freshly printed poem in hand within twenty minutes.
"We practice the art of crafting a spontaneous poem for two weeks prior to Artwalk," Haley said. "Our goal is to stay focused and write well enough to produce a unique work of art that would make a great gift."
For more information, contact Haley at 674-2262 or the Abilene Bookstore at 672-6657.
