Students and faculty design Christmas display for Abilene State School
For immediate release Staff members and student employees from the Administrative Services Office at Abilene Christian University brought a little bit of the ACU campus to the Abilene State School this year for Christmas. The group constructed a model of the ACU Biblical Studies Building and Tower of Light to display at Christmas Lane. Five students and six staff members worked in the university’s carpentry shop to complete the first-ever ACU Christmas Lane display. The project also served to help introduce international students to American Christmas decorations and traditions. “We had several international students who assisted in the creation of our Christmas display,” said Kevin Watson, associate vice president for administrative services. “It was our intent to provide an entertaining and fun introduction into the American Christmas decorating tradition for our outstanding group of student employees from other parts of the world.” Staff members working on the project included Holly Perry, mail services; Sandy Hall, central stores; John Kemboi, physical resources; Amanda Cutler, physical resources; Gustavo Espinoza, physical resources and Ricky Brown, physical resources, and students included Chris Covington, Vincent Mororgah, Davinet Rakotonarivo, Shalis Stevens and Daniel Stinson. Christmas Lane is an annual event held at the Abilene State School featuring lighted displays sponsored by local businesses and indoor animated displays and is located at 2501 Maple Street. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are a member of the media who would like more information about this release, please contact Wendy Kilmer, Director of Public Relations. |
