For immediate release
Nov. 29, 2004
On Dec. 2, members of Abilene Christian University's Service Action Leadership Team will spend one hour walking across the ACU campus praying for the needs of faculty, staff, students, their families and campus departments.
SALT will meet together at 7 p.m. in the Bean Sprout and split into two groups to tour campus. Each group will stop to pray over various buildings and those who work or live there and for individual requests submitted by those in the building.
This is the first prayer walk that SALT has organized and as many as 65 active members of the service group will attend. The purpose of the prayer walk is two-fold as the university community approaches the holiday season.
"We always do something for campus for Christmas," said Nancy Coburn, director of the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center. "We decided to do the prayer walk as a way of reminding us of our purpose on campus: to bless those around us and to draw others in the ACU family to serve, and to offer this as a blessing to our university family."
ACU faculty and staff have the opportunity to submit specific prayer requests for the walk.
