For Immediate Release
November 2, 2004

To help members of the Abilene community cope with grief in their lives, Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home is sponsoring a seminar entitled “Understanding Your Grief: Touchstones for Hope and Healing.”

The seminar begins Friday at 1 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Williams Performing Arts Center on the ACU campus. It is free of admission and is open to the general public.

Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt, the Director of the Center for Loss and Life Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado, is speaking on hope and healing during times of grief and loss.

The purpose of the seminar is to help attendants understand how loss influences their lives and to help them recognize their own unique journey into healing. The seminar is recommended to those who are currently experiencing grief in their lives.

Wolfelt is a well-known author, educator and grief counselor. He has written more than 20 books on grief and loss and has appeared on numerous television shows, including Oprah Winfrey, Larry King Live and the NBC Today Show. Wolfelt has also received the Association for Death Education and Counseling’s Death Educator Award.

Other sponsors of the seminar include: Hendrick Hospice Health Care, Citizens Bank, KTAB TV and KRBC TV.  Early registration for the seminar is recommended as seating is limited. Those who wish to attend the seminar can register by calling 677-4355.
