Abilene Christian Schools seeks new president
For immediate release
Oct. 4, 2004
Abilene Christian Schools has begun the process of finding its next president and chief executive officer. Steve Cunningham left the position in August to take a job at First National Bank, and a national search is underway to find his replacement.
“We will be celebrating our Centennial year next year, along with ACU, so we’re looking for someone to provide leadership and vision into our second century. ” said Gaston Welborn, chair of the Abilene Christian Schools board of trustees.
A few of the key requirements for candidates are dedication to Christian education, experience in finance and budget administration, fundraising/development expertise, and excellent communication skills. In addition, candidates must have a master’s degree and be a member of a local congregation of the Church of Christ.
Bryan Shilcutt has been named chair of the search committee
“We’re looking for someone who sees this as a mission, not just a job,” Shilcutt said. “It’s a labor of love.”
The search committee includes trustees, teachers and parents. In addition to Shilcutt, members of the committee are Mary Anderson, Phil Hettich, Kent Rideout, Phyllis Gilbreth, Deborah Strickland, Jana Beck, Marilyn Coates, Darryl Jinkerson and Dwain Hart.
Resumes should be sent by Nov. 8 to Abilene Christian Schools, Attn: Search Committee, 2550 N. Judge Ely Blvd., Abilene, TX, 79601, or, for more information, call Jean Campbell at 672-9200.
