Abilene Christian University welcomes 16 new faculty members for the 2004-05 school year, and several faculty and staff have received promotions effective this fall.
New faculty include
Dr. Carisse Berryhill, associate professor of library Science
Mike Fernandez, assistant professor of theatre
Dr. Kent Gallaher, associate professor of agricultural and environmental sciences
Dr. Jaime Goff, assistant professor of marriage and family therapy
Nancy Hildebrand, instructor of nursing
Tamara Kennedy, instructor of student success
Dr. Mark Phillips, assistant professor of management sciences
Chandra Lewis-Qualls, instructor of English
Charlene Reeves, assistant professor of nursing
Dr. Amy Roberts, associate professor and director of Master of Science in Nursing Program
Cheryl Schwiethale, instructor of mathematics
Susan Teel, instructor of music
Dwayne Towell, assistant professor of computer science
Hilary Walton, instructor of English
Dr. Jeffrey Wherry, professor of psychology
Shaitaisha Winston, instructor of education
ACU also has announced two administrative promotions. Dr. K.B. Massingil has been promoted from chief information officer and director of the Adams Center for Teaching Excellence to assistant vice president, chief information officer, and director of the Adams Center for Teaching Excellence. Kevin Watson has been promoted from chief administrative services officer to associate vice president for administrative services.
Four ACU departments have new department chairs this year: Dr. Malesa Breeding, chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders; Greg Straughn, chair of the Department of Music (effective January 2005); Dr. David Gotcher, chair of the Department of Applied Studies; and Dr. Darryl Jinkerson, chair of the Department of Management Sciences. The Department of Applied Studies and the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders are new departments this year. The applied studies program was a part of the University Studies program previously, and the communication sciences and disorders program was a division of the Department of Communication until this year.

Dr. Julie Pruett – granted tenure
Dr. Allen Teel – promoted to professor of music
Dr. Debbie Williams – promoted to associate professor of English
Dr. Wayne Barnard – received Ph.D. from Texas Woman's University
Dr. Neal Coates – received Ph.D. from University of Connecticut
