ACU to present 'Godspell' musical, dinner theatre

For immediate release
April 15, 2004

Abilene Christian University's Department of Theatre will present the hit musical "Godspell" April 15 through May 1.

Dinner and show is $25; show-only is $12. Call 325-674-ARTS for tickets.  Dinner begins at 6:45 p.m., and the show begins at 8 p.m. Dates are April 15-17, 23-24, 30 and May 1.

New York magazine calls the musical "exhilarating -- a rapid fire musical fun house." This contemporary look at Jesus and the parables includes favorite songs such as "Day By Day" and "All For The Best."

"'Godspell' is based on the gospel according to Matthew and is one of the biggest Broadway and off-Broadway successes of all time," said Adam Hester, director of the show and chair of the Department of Theatre.  "The parables of Jesus come humanly and passionately to life."
