Abilene Christian University's Honors Program will present its annual teaching awards Wednesday, April 14, during its weekly small group chapel at 11 a.m. in the Hilton Room.
Dr. Rodney Ashlock, instructor of Bible, ministry and missions, will receive the 2004 Honors Program Teacher of the Year award for his service to the Honors Program and to ACU. Ashlock teaches honors sections of sophomore Bible.
Dr. Valdy Eichmann, professor of foreign languages, will receive the 2004 Honors Program Mentor of the Year award. He has directed honors course contracts and capstone projects for French majors over many years. This is his second time to receive this award.
Awardees are chosen on the basis of honors student nominations and course evaluations.
"Next fall, the Honors Program will be 20 years old," said Dr. Chris Willerton, Honors Program director and professor of English, "and teachers like these have kept it going. They inspire students with their energy, patience, and joy in scholarship. It's a blessing to work with them."
