Two Abilene Christian University students took top honors in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities second annual Focus photography competition.
Eyakem Gulilat, a freshman applied studies major from Pflugerville, won in the category of "Learn: Images of Scholarship" with his photo "Knowledge Addicted." Brady Lane, senior photojournalism major from Waco, won in the category of "Touch: Images of Service" with his photo "Feeding the Multitudes."
The competition is for any student, but this is the first year ACU's journalism department has been involved in the competition. Cade White, director of the photojournalism division of the Department of Journalism Mass Communication, helped organize student participation with nearly 20 entries. The competition focused on photographs that displayed the personality and essence of a Christian higher education.
"The competition is a great vehicle that gives students the chance to compare their work in a broad forum," White said. "It also lets the Christian community see what we are doing. We are very proud of our students."
