Thomas Nelson Publishing announced the donation of an endowed scholarship in honor of Max Lucado at the Abilene Christian University Alumni Day Luncheon on Sunday, Feb. 22.
The luncheon honored Lucado, class of 1977, as Outstanding Alumnus of the Year, ACU’s highest alumni honor.
At the luncheon, David Moberg, executive vice-president & publisher of W Publishing, (a division of the Thomas Nelson Publishing Company), presented ACU with a $10,000 check to begin a scholarship for ACU students in Lucado's name.
Friends of Lucado have pledged another $10,000 to the fund, but at least $5,000 more must be raised before the scholarship is awarded. The agreement concerning who will receive the scholarship and what criteria will be required is currently in negotiation.
"I think the check presentation and this scholarship are a testament to Max's character, which is one of the many reasons he was selected as Outstanding Alumnus of the Year," said Jama Cadle, coordinator of alumni events.
Donations to the scholarship fund may be sent to ACU Gift Receiving, ACU Box 29132, Abilene, TX, 79699. Please note on all contributions that the gift is for the scholarship in Max Lucado's name.
