A former professor and chair of TCU's Communication Sciences and Disorders Department has donated his entire professional library to Abilene Christian University's Communication Sciences and Disorders Division of the Department of Communication.
Dr. Joseph Helmic has provided consultation that assisted ACU with the initiation of a graduate program and the national accreditation in Speech-Language Pathology, said Dr. John Ashby, professor of communication and director of the Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders.
"We are honored by Dr. Helmic's generosity," Ashby said."His extensive library of books will be a valuable addition of learning materials and will provide wonderful resources for our students."
Some of the volumes donated will be used by students in the Communication Department library; some will be donated to ACU's Brown Library; and some will be sold to benefit the Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
