Alumni, friends and prospective students of Abilene Christian University will gather in Houston and Arlington this weekend for one of ACU's newest events, an event that stretches even beyond ACU's campus.
Purple and White parties, which take place in various cities across Texas and in other states, were started to recruit students, reconnect alumni, and send off ACU students going back to school, said Jama Cadle, alumni events coordinator.
"They provide a great opportunity for alumni to get involved, take an active role in recruiting and enjoy reconnecting," Cadle said. "They also provide great visibility for ACU. We are hoping that these will increase enrollment and alumni involvement."
The parties are a collaboration between the ACU offices of University Relations, Admissions and Alumni Relations.
In Arlington, a Purple and White Party will take place at North Davis Church of Christ at 1601 N. Davis Drive, on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. The party is hosted by Les ('97) and Heatherly ('97) McDaniel.
In Houston, Ron Booker ('80) will host a Purple and White Party at Asset Plus Office Complex, 2411 Fountain View Drive, on Sunday, Oct. 19, 3-5 p.m.
Look for Purple and White parties in Lubbock, San Antonio, Austin, McAllen and Dallas coming in the next month. For a full schedule visit http://www.acu.edu/alumni/events/purple_white_parties.html.
