ACU to honor distinguished journalism alumni at annual Gutenberg dinner

Abilene Christian University will host its annual Gutenberg Dinner on Oct. 23 to honor three distinguished alumni of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. The event will honor Brown Bannister, Kenneth Pybus and Lilia Santiago.  The dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Teague Special Events Center at ACU.

A widely known music producer, Bannister has worked with famous names in contemporary Christian music including Amy Grant and Stephen Curtis Chapman. He has received numerous Dove awards from the Gospel Music Association, with his most recent being the 2003 Dove Award for Producer of the Year. Bannister is an alumnus from the class of 1975 and resides in Brentwood, Tenn.

Pybus, a 1989 ACU graduate, has distinguished himself as both a print journalist and attorney.  He is a past editor of the Nashville Business Journal and a former managing editor of the Houston Business Journal.  Recently, Pybus moved to Abilene and joined the faculty of the JMC Department at ACU.

Santiago is an advertising executive and entrepreneur. She is the vice president, senior strategic planner and co-founder of DQ Advertising Group, which specializes in marketing to the growing Hispanic community.  She is an alumna from the class of 1987 and resides in Oakland, Calif.

Current JMC students receive free admission to the dinner and may purchase one guest ticket for $15.  Regular tickets are $25 and table and dinner sponsorships are available for $250 and $1,000. All proceeds benefit the JMC department. For tickets and information, contact the JMC office at 325-674-2296.
