New students to dive into college life, ACU during Welcome Week

For immediate release
Aug. 15, 2003

Approximately 1,200 new students will be welcomed into Abilene Christian University during a week filled with fun, information and service. Welcome Week, led by upperclassmen students and the First Year Program, has been an ACU tradition for almost 20 years as a way to introduce students to ACU and college life.

This year, for the first time, a new car will be given away to one new student. The car, courtesy of Sisneros car dealerships, will be given away Saturday evening at the conclusion of Welcome Week. To be entered into the drawing for the car, students must have collected stamps from eight specific Welcome Week events; however, the new students will not know which events are “stamp events.” The Welcome Week steering committee will predetermine which events are “stamp events” and stamps will be passed out to all present at the end of those events.
