Abilene Christian University will honor its 50-year reunion alumni at the Golden Anniversary Reunion Thursday, April 10, and Friday, April 11.
As part of the Golden Anniversary Reunion tradition, the class of 1953 will lead the chapel assembly on Thursday. Betsey Craig, coordinator of alumni communication, said that the chapel assembly is an important time for the students as well as the returning alumni.
“The students like to hear the old stories that the alumni have to tell about their time at ACU,” said Craig.
While the reunion is a time of reconnecting and nostalgia for the alumni, it is also a time of encouragement for students to see how they are a continuation of the ACU legacy and far-reaching family.
“It’s important for the students to see how this class has maintained their connection with ACU and how that connection his impacted their lives,” said Jama Cadle, alumni events coordinator.
Each attending class member will receive a Golden Anniversary medallion hung on a purple- and white-striped ribbon, to be worn upon any return to campus. The medallion, a tradition that began in 2000 with the class of 1950, is a way of honoring alumni while they are on campus.
