The Harrington String Quartet will present a concert in the new Williams Performing Arts Center recital hall as part of the recital series at Abilene Christian University.
The quartet will perform Thursday, March 6, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Call 915-674-2199 for tickets.
The Harrington String Quartet is celebrating its 21st season. Their program will include the Haydn "String Quartet Opus 74," the Janacek "String Quartet #2" and the Gershwin "Lullaby."
As a member of the Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Arts Program through the 2003-04 season the quartet has performed for the Fine Arts Chamber Players in Dallas and for the Austin Chamber Music Festival, as well as in other cities across the state. They have also appeared in New York City, Milwaukee, Chicago, Oklahoma and New Jersey, as well as a recent tour throughout the Midwest. The Dallas Morning News hailed the group for "consistently bold, suave performances."
Currently, the members of the Harrington String Quartet are in residence as faculty members at West Texas A&M University and serve as principal players with the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra.
