Gas supply temporarily restricted at ACU

For immediate release
Feb. 25, 2003

Abilene Christian University's natural gas supply is being restricted temporarily because of a pipeline leak near Breckenridge, said Kevin Watson, director of administrative services.

The gas supply to the central plant was curtailed, and ACU's central plant began using diesel fuel. As of Tuesday afternoon, gas was still available to the water heaters, allowing on-campus buildings and residence halls to have hot water.

If the restriction of gas continues, the hot water heaters may lose their gas supply at some point, causing residence halls and buildings on campus to lose hot water for a period of time, Watson said.

However, during this period of gas restrictions, all residence halls and campus buildings will be heated continuously using diesel fuel.
