International concert pianist to perform at ACU's performing arts center

Roman Rudnytsky, an internationally acclaimed concert pianist, will perform at Abilene Christian University's new Williams Performing Arts Center as a part of the opening recital series. Rudnytsky will perform a recital Sunday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m., which will be free and open to the public.

In addition, he will offer a master class Saturday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m., which will also be free and open to the public.

Rudnytsky is of Ukranian background but was born in New York and frequently performs across the globe in more than 75 countries. He is a graduate of Juilliard School in New York and also studied at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Md., and at master classes in Austria and Italy. He is a member of the piano faculty of the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, and has previously served on the piano faculties of the Indiana University School of Music and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory, in addition to being the "artist-in-residence" at two Australian universities.

At the recital, Rudnytsky will perform on the new Hamburg Steinway grand piano, recently donated to ACU by Edmond Castleberry. The recital will include selections by composers such as Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, Sergei Prokofieff, Maruice Ravel and Franz Liszt.
