World-renowned opera singer Denyce Graves, scheduled to sing at Abilene Christian University Tuesday evening, will be unable to perform due to illness.
Graves arrived in Abilene but was ill and will not be able to perform. The performance was to be the inaugural performance in the recital hall of the new Williams Performing Arts Center. The performance will be rescheduled for a later date.
"Of course we are disappointed to miss out on having this incredible performer help dedicate our recital hall, but we are certainly understanding of her situation and wish her a speedy recovery," said Dr. Paul Piersall, chair of the Department of Music.
Hundreds of people had bought tickets for the performance in the new building. Piersall said ticket holders can get their payments returned or reversed by calling 915-674-2737 locally, calling toll-free 888-414-4228 or emailing Julie Hilty at jch00d@acu.edu.
