Sept. 17, 2002

The College of Biblical Studies at Abilene Christian University will present the 2002 Lectures on Preaching on Thursday, focusing on the spiritual life of preachers.

Keynote speakers will include Ken Durham, preaching minister of the University Church of Christ on the campus of Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif., and Randy Harris, instructor of Bible, missions and ministry at ACU.

The schedule for the day will include lectures, breakout groups and worship time. Most activities will take place in Chapel on the Hill in the Biblical Studies Building on ACU?s campus.

In addition, a tribute lunch will honor Bill Love and A.R. Maytubby.

Love grew up in Abilene, attended ACU for undergraduate and graduate degrees, and received a Ph.D. from Louisiana State. He spent most of his career preaching at the Bering Drive Church of Christ in Houston for 22 years. He then left to work with the Lifeline Chaplaincy, where he served for three years.

Maytubby has preached for more than 50 years in churches throughout Oklahoma and Arkansas after training at preaching programs located in churches in Tennessee, Arkansas and Oklahoma, including the Nashville Christian Institute. Maytubby serves not only as a preacher, but also as a song leader.
