Aug. 6, 2002 The Texas Association of Creative Writing Teachers honored three Abilene Christian University students in an annual creative writing contest. Joe Drisdale took first place with his portfolio of poems in the graduate division of poetry. Brooks Larr, integrated marketing communication graduate of 2002, received an honorable mention in undergraduate poetry. Jonathan Grubbs, senior electronic media major, was awarded third place in undergraduate fiction for his story "Chad's Fire." The TACWT contest each year asks for creative writing instructors around the state to nominate their graduate and undergraduate students' best work in fiction, poetry, and non-fiction prose with one nomination accepted in each category. The ACU students were nominated by Al Haley for work they produced in his creative writing workshops during 2001-02.
