ACU Gerontology Center to offer January short
course
For Immediate Release
Dec. 2, 1999
The Abilene Christian University Gerontology Center will
offer the course "Ministry with Older Adults" as a January
short course, Jan. 3-7.
The class will be taught by Jim Hughes, adjunct professor
of gerontology and senior adult minister at Skillman Avenue
Church of Christ in Dallas. This is the sixth year he has
taught this class at ACU.
The class will provide opportunities to learn successful
strategies and program development in ministry specific to
the needs of older adults, age 65 and above. The class will
include training on how to work with and minister to this
age group along with an evaluation of successful programs in
congregational settings. The class is addressing older
adults because they are the fastest growing age group in
churches.
The course "Ministry with Older Adults" will be offered
as a Bible ministry class at the ACU tuition rate with an
audit price of $25.
