a Millionaire" television show
For Immediate Release
Nov. 12, 1999
ACU alumnae Amber Lavender of Portland, Ore., will appear
on tonight's episode of ABC's television game show "Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire."
The show will air tonight at 7:30 p.m. on Abilene's
ABC-affiliate KTXS-TV.
Lavender, a 1983 graduate, is a broadcast manager.
Sources at her home in Portland said tonight's episode was
taped yesterday, but the results will not be known until the
show airs tonight.
The game involved answering trivia questions for money.
Starting at the $100 level, contestants face 15
multiple-choice questions, often doubling their winnings
with each correct answer.
According to an ABC Web site, host Regis Philbin awarded
$1,433,000 during the series' previous 13-day run in August,
including a $500,000 prize to Michael Shutterly, the largest
one-time cash prize allotment (excluding lottery winners) in
the history of American television.
