group
For Immediate Release
Nov. 8, 1999
A group from the College of Music at the University of
North Texas will perform at Abilene Christian University on
Friday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m. at the Chapel on the Hill
adjacent to ACU's College of Biblical Studies building.
The concert is a performance by the early music ensemble,
Les Agréments. The group consists of a violin, lute,
harpsichord and violoncello. The group will perform on
authentic period instruments and will feature the music of
Uccellini, Marini, Buxtehude, Muffat and Biber.
Les Agréments will perform from facsimile editions
of the original manuscripts whenever possible in order to
express the composer's intents and to perform
authentically.
Gregory Straughn, a graduate of the ACU Music Department,
will play the violoncello part in the concert. He is married
to Marcia Rives Straughn, also an ACU music graduate.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
